Ok, we have a name and we have a logo, but now you know I can't post it online because then the gift quilts would not be anonymous............but trust me, it is way cool. First quilt is leaving next week for its new home....first to get the gift card with the way cool logo...

Thanks to everyone who emailed offering fabric scraps; they are most appreciated; especially since you were going to throw them out anyway.

Next one is half done............its really cute; the scrap "new material recycle" is coming along well also.

Here are the latest group of "recycled" fabrics. They haven't been cut into blocks yet, just are big blobs of fabric, but interesting.........yellow would be nice with them..................

GLIMPSES INTO FUTURE QUILTS

There are some pictues of quilt workings that will eventually make into warm covers to keep people warm at night. If you can make any of these and send one pieced, I have no problem in doing the quilting. The walking foot and I are best of friends.

More fabric arrives!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've started another scrap quilt, with wild colors, put in a bag and shaken and no matching allowed! I think it will look great. Also picked up some fat quarters today at a new quilt shop I visited, drooling over their long arm, and can't wait to put them into quilts in stages of progress!

Latest Quilt for the Pile Awaiting Homes

Thought those looking might be interested in seeing that we do have quilts that get finished! Sometimes it takes awhile, sometimes the colors are off, the thread colors are wrong, due to everything being donated, but in the end, they are WARM and hopefully bring a smile to the face of someone who needs it and another smile because now they know someone they don't even know cares about them......................

Here is an example of how tiny pieces can come alive; this was a gift for a dear cousin, but shows that the scraps that you throw away after projects, can really turn into something else.

We may not have the time, when making our "give away" quilts, to make elaborate pictures, but its just to show you that "small" and trash size pieces can have a 2nd or even 3rd life!

What little things can help

These are some of the little pieces that I assemble to make the recycled fabric with. Don't throw these in the trash, send them our way! Everything has a 2nd life, maybe even a third!

I guess I will continue this quest by myself; there don't appear to be a lot of helpful people out there in cyberspace willing to help those less fortunate than themselves. No one reads my blog or responds, so will just enjoy it by myself; and keep helping others..............ticia

How we use the useless to keep others warm

Here is just a sampler of some scraps that I salvaged (begged) off a friend, and stippled. Now that it appears to be working, will do them in long strips with solid strips inbetween for charity quilts. So, whatever you would normally "toss", toss it our way! We love to create and then give to people to keep them warm.

I just went thru 11 days with no heat and I truly "have walked in their shoes" and know how it feels to stay cold. The propane man came today and there is warmth and hot water again, so back to making things to keep others warm!

Calling For Samples and Volunteers

The purpose of this blog is to unite quilters who feel a need to take care of others; which is what we are supposed to do anyway; help someone in need and it comes full circle. I've tested the theory and it works!

Our quilts will remain anonymous to the recipients but are put together totally by donated materials,old clothing (wool and cotton only please) and are made in all sizes. They are available by request on letterhead from any fire department, charity, church, etc.

They are made for the people of the United States only. There are plenty of groups out there with far bigger budgets than ours to take care of the rest of the world. We work strictly on a volunteer basis. You donate whatever you can, scraps, clothes, thread, pins, batting, backing, tieing material, you can think it, we can use it.

We are a grass roots organization trying to make a difference, not only in an instant gratification society but in an economy that has seen its up side and is now seeing its down size and we will be needed even more.

Should you have any desire to donate anything, even your time (perhaps you like to quilt but not assemble, or visa versa) do phone work to see who needs things, just cut pieces, iron pieces of scrap, whatever, feel free to write and let us know.

Because this is an organization that wants NO credit for what it does, we go strictly by a name and take no credit for what we do. We are underground, so to speak and the quilts magically appear when needed.
